Each holiday season, The Salvation Army engages in the tradition of "staffing the kettles" to promote the plight of the needy in Anchorage. This practice is critical to The Salvation Army's cause, as the money it raises supports the organization’s programs for the rest of the year. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of Anchorage residents and businesses, The Salvation Army can continue to provide valuable programs including the Cares for Kids Crisis Center, Booth Memorial Home, Clitheroe Center, Older Alaskans Program and McKinnell, to name a few.
